Course Overview:

The Level 1 Personal Safety Awareness and Self Defence Training course is split between classroom teaching and physical self defence skills that are easy to learn and hard to forget.

This course is ideal for anyone in either a home, leisure or work environment where there could be the potential threat of attack, such as lone workers, lone commuters, runners, dog walkers, people living alone, teenagers or students.

The best way to keep yourself safe from a physical attack is to not be in that situation in the first place.

The “Personal Safety Awareness” and “Situational Awareness” modules will teach you how to spot the danger signs in order to avoid a potentially threatening situation altogether.

However, being in the wrong place at the wrong time is not always avoidable or foreseeable.

When can I strike someone? Will I be the one who gets in trouble?

The “Self Defence and The Law” module will give you the knowledge you need to have the confidence to defend yourself, safe in the knowledge that your actions will be legally defensible.

“Adrenaline in a Conflict Situation” will explain what actually happens physiologically in a threatening or violent situation.

Having this knowledge allows you to be aware of how you may feel and act in a threatening or violent situation, so that it does not come as a surprise to you at the time and you can prepare yourself in advance.

Physical Self Defence Techniques

The second part of the course is practical self defence training. 

You will be given an effective toolkit of physical skills that you will be able to call upon should you ever need to.

This starts with doing all you can to avoid a physical confrontation.

If a threat becomes unavoidably physical, “De-Escalation Techniques” will teach you how to confidently and assertively maintain your personal space. This can often be enough to make a potential attacker think twice.

“Targeting The Bodies Weak Spots” is key to stopping an attacker fast and will teach you where on the body to strike to quickly make your escape.

Some of these areas will be obvious, but others less so…
